Air India will launch its first service to Vietnam with a new route to Ho Chi Minh City.

From June 1, the Delhi-based carrier will start its new service connecting Delhi and Ho Chi Minh City. Using Airbus A320 aircraft, the airline will operate five weekly flights on the route (Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday).

In a statement, Air India said the new route will strengthen its network in Southeast Asia and enable convenient one-stop connections to Vietnam via Delhi for travelers from the US, Canada, UK, and Europe.

Air India will be the lone India-based carrier to operate flights between Delhi and the Vietnamese capital city. The route is currently served by Vietnam Airlines and budget carrier Vietjet.

The airline's current Southeast Asia network includes services to four points in the region – Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, and Yangon.
